Deputy FM: Netanyahu playing baseless, childish game

Describing the documents presented by Netanyahu as fabricated, he said that Netanyahu’s claim that some 55,000 documents have been recovered from a store in Shourabad, south Tehran showing Iran’s secret nuclear activities is funny.

How is it that Iran keeps such important documents in a abandoned industrial store? he questioned.

Contending that Zionist regime’s claims have been outdated, Araqchi said that they created the case of PMD with such allegations, alleging that Iran is seeking to build nuclear weapons, as a result of which the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) got into trouble due to such baseless claims.

But Iran proved its innocence and eventually the agency announced in 2015 that all the claims were null and void, closing the relevant case, he said.

That Netanyahu is playing such a childish game ten days before Trump's announcement of his decision over JCPOA reveals that this is a pre-planned show to influence the US president’s decision, Araqchi said, noting that they are all out to kill the landmark deal.

“We are ready for all these scenarios but the allegations themselves indicate the extent to which the US and Zionist regime and Saudi Arabia are furious at JCPOA,” he said.

Known for his ridiculous games, Netanyahu once again accused Iran of seeking to build nuclear arms.

Netanyahu has claimed Israel has obtained 'Iran’s secret files' which reveal it is still pursuing nuclear weapons program secretly even after the JCPOA came into effect.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has compared Netanyahu to a liar shepherd who wants to tell lies over Iran’s nuclear drive.

IAEA has on several occasions verified peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program under the JCPOA, to which Iran has remained committed since it went into force.

US President Donald Trump is slated to make his decision over sanctions waivers on May 12 and announce staying in or leaving the deal. He has already warned that if JCPOA is not amended, the US will quit the deal.

On Sunday, British prime minister’s office reiterated in a statement that UK, French and German leaders have agreed that JCPOA is still the best option which should be preserved.

The JCPOA stands for Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the official name of the agreement reached between Iran and six world major powers in 2015 to give Tehran sanctions relief in return for scaling back its nuclear program.
