Congo keen on expanding ties with Tehran: Ambassador

Luc-Joseph Okio contacted Hamid Reza Fouladgar, chairman of the Iran-Congo Parliamentary Friendship Group, said, 'Brazzaville hosted a delegation from the Iranian Parliament, and several meetings were held at the highest level between the two parliaments, which is an emphasis on the strong and friendly relations between the two parliaments.'

Congolese new ambassador said the Congolese government and parliament welcomed the strengthening of relations between the two countries and Congo is seeking to expand its cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran in the commercial and economic fields.

Okio also stated, 'In addition to emphasizing the importance of the implementation of existing agreements, we also want to work in other areas, because the two sides have high potential and capacity.'

The new Congolese ambassador reiterated, “We condemn unilateralism on the international scene.”
