Commander: Army spares no efforts to develop Makran coastline

He made the remarks while he was visiting the Third Naval Region in Konarak, south of Sistan and Balochestan province, accompanied by Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari.

'Plans implemented to develop Makran Coasts indicated bright future for the region and its current situation is not comparable with the past,' Major General Mousavi said.

The commander said that emphasis laid by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on defensive and strategic readiness of the Navy make us to do the first missions in this force.

Major General Mousavi inspected surface and under-surface units, missile units, aerial defense, and the third base of air-sea, UAV during his visit to the Third Naval Region and also inspected development plans in the region like construction of 64-bed hospital.

Makran is a semi-desert coastal strip in the South of Sindh and Balochistan, in Pakistan and Iran, along the coast of the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.

In November 2014, Supreme Leader called on the Iranian Armed Forces to reinvigorate their power and increase preparedness to defend the country against any possible enemy attack. He referred to the country's long water borders with other countries and the enemies' extensive investment in those regions, and underlined the necessity for the further development of Makran coastline in Southeastern Iran.
