Baghdad tries to deescalate tension between Iran, US: Iraqi FM

In a statement, he added that Iraq’s stance on the current crisis is clear and it considers US President Donald Trump’s recent statements in Japan a step in line with reducing tension in the region.

Meanwhile, Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi on Tuesday announced his imminent visit to Tehran and Washington to discuss regional situation.

He added that Baghdad is trying to deescalate tensions and help calm the situation in the region so that sanctions imposed by the US will not adversely affect Iran.

He also warned that if the sanctions and economic pressures continue, the critical situation arising from it will harm all.
