Azeri FM due in Iran soon: Envoy

Addressing a ceremony held Friday to mark the 40th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, Javad Jahangirzade said Tehran-Baku relations are in its highest level right now.

He added that Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has made 6 trips to Azerbaijan since 2017.

Iran-Azerbaijan-Russia trilateral meeting is also slated to be held in 2019, he noted.

Referring to 12 meetings which were held by Iranian and Azeri presidents over the last six years, he said both sides are determined to develop relations in political, economic and cultural fields.

Jahangirzade went on to say that 73% growth in Iran-Azerbaijan ties indicates the fact that political relations are being developed widely.

There are no obstacles for both sides to promote relations, he reiterated.

Iran was the first destination for Azeri tourists in 2018, he said, adding that 33% of Azeri tourists chose Iran.

Referring to Iran-Azerbaijan cooperation in railway, oil and gas, electricity and agricultural exports, Jahangirzade said Iran cultural week was held in Baku and Ganja last year.

Alluding to the fact that 95% of medicines are being produced inside Iran, he said Iran is ready to establish pharmaceutical plants in Azerbaijan.
