Austria police probing reason behind attack on Iran diplomat

It is still unclear what the real intention of the attacker was, the Austrian police said in a statement.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi said on Monday that Tehran is in contact with officials in Austria to get information on the recent attack by the 26-year-old Austrian citizen.

It is said that the attacker, who shot dead by the police, was a foreigner but with Austrian nationality.

We want the Austrian government to probe the case and to do more to protect the Iranian diplomatic mission and its buildings, Qasemi said.
