
Appreciating Iran's advances in various fields of science and technology, particularly the presence of the Iranian women in all spheres, Sarah Anyang Agbor who is the Commissioner of the Human Resources, Science and Technology of African Union said that the AU is willing to cooperate with Tehran.
The remarks were made at a meeting with Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Gholamreza Ansari in Tehran.
The Iranian diplomat for his part acknowledged the AU stance on the nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
He noted that the major part of Iran's scientific and technological progress have been made over the past forty years and under the unlawful sanctions against Iran.
The AU commissioner has also met with Iran's First Deputy Minister of Science Hossein Salar-Amoli, and discussed the ways of broadening cooperation between Iran and Africa.
Referring to the AU 2063 Agenda, she called on Iran to play a bigger role in the continent with a focus on nanotechnology, biotechnology and IT.
