171 Syrian civilians killed since Turkey's incursion into Afrin

Over the same period, 458 more Syrian civilians have been wounded in air raids, artillery and mortar attacks of the Turkish army and accompanying terrorists. The attacks also inflicted heavy damage on infrastructures and houses in Afrin region, northwest of Aleppo.

The Syrian media also reported Sunday on an agreement reached between the Syrian army and People's Protection Units (PYG) on arrival of Syrian military units in Afrin as of Monday to confront the Turkish regime's aggression.

On January 20, the Turkish army launched its illegal operation 'Olive Branch' in the northern Syrian region of Afrin.

According to Turkish media, 6,000 Turkish military men are participating in the operation.

The Ankara government claims the aim of its aggressive operation is to destroy elements of Turkish Workers Party (PKK), Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) and People's Protection Units (PYG). It accuses the military unit of PYG of cooperating with PKK.
