Vessel building to be ceded to local producers

Head of the commission’s maritime industries working group, Seyyed Mehdi Moqaddasi told a meeting on the state of Bushehr province’s maritime industries that a strategic document on Iran’s maritime industries was compiled in a bid to extend support to the country’s marine industries.

Ten proposals in support of Iran’s marine industries will soon be prepared for presentation to Majlis, he said.

Over the past years, certain Iranian companies used to meet their needed vessels from foreign countries, he said, noting that from now on other countries will place their orders with the Iranian producers.

The chairman of Majlis Industries and Mines Commission further noted that the country is currently engaged in a full-fledged economic war and unity and solidarity is the only way to save the country’s economy.

Banning purchase of foreign and second-hand vessels is among the commission’s measures that can contribute a lot to the country’s maritime industries, he said.
