Veep vows to implement unified foreign exchange rate system

Addressing a session on examining issues pertaining to foreign exchange currency late Tuesday, he added that the decision to offer a unified rate of 42,000 rials for each dollar is logical.

He also ensured the people and economic activists that the government will fulfill the policy powerfully.

Noting that Central Bank of Iran (CBI) is responsible for implementing policies and decisions, he called on all relevant institutes to seriously attempt to help implement the schemes which will help stabilize the market.

'I assure the people that the government is capable of inject enough foreign exchange resources to the market,' Jahangiri added in his address.

All branches of government will support the government in this respect, he said, adding that the country has enough foreign exchange reserves and it will not allow non-economic elements to undermine the country’s economic stability.

The session dealing with foreign exchange issue was attended by ministers of industry, mine and trade, finance, agriculture Jihad and interior as well as governor of Central Bank of Iran (CBI) and the vice president for economic affairs.

Meanwhile, Jahangiri said on Monday that the US dollar will be offered only at the unified rate of 42,000 rials to everyone as of Tuesday morning and anyone engaged in dealings at any other rates will commit an act of smuggling and will be dealt with seriously.
