According to the state-run Uzbek news agency, UzA, Sukhrob Kholmuradov said Monday his country was trying to take an important role in realizing the strategic international transportation and transit project.
The International North–South Transport Corridor (INSTC) is a multi-mode transportation network with a length of 7,200 km for moving freight between the countries alongside the routes.
The project will connect the Central Asian country to India through the railway crossing Azerbaijan and Iran from Chabahar port at Gulf of Oman.
Uzbekistan, as a landlocked country, is willing to connect its nationwide railway to the corridor to benefit from the economic privilege, as it is estimated that the project can reduce the transportation costs up to 40 percent for all countries in the region.
India is seeking to intercept the Chinese initiative known as One Belt, One Road. However, New Delhi has to interact with Beijing for linkage of some parts along the route.
