US sanctions ineffective on Iran wagon industry

Speaking to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Farhad Farahmand Mohammadi said that the main electronic control system for self-sustaining wagons, which is essentially not produced domestically due to low economic production, is subject to American sanctions.

Most of these parts are supplied by the European Union, which, thanks to the support of this union from our country in terms of Iran nuclear deal also known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), has not been so difficult to supply, he added.

The electronic parts of the ordinary wagons are repairable and it will be possible to replace them with Chinese parts, he said.

After Washington's May 8 exit from the landmark Iran Deal formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the US gave 90 to 180 wind-down period to other countries before it starts re-imposing oil sanctions on Tehran on November 4. Part of the US illegitimate sanctions was imposed on Iran on August 9.

Under the JCPOA, Iran undertook to put limits on its nuclear program in exchange for the removal of nuclear-related sanctions imposed against Tehran.
