Turkish businessmen call for developing ties with Iran

The joint meeting was held between İzmir chamber of commerce, Iran consular general in Istanbul and Iran commercial attaché on Tuesday.

The meeting aimed at reviewing trade and investment opportunities between two countries.

Both sides urged facilitating bilateral trade relations.

'We spare no efforts in boosting the volume of trade with Iran and reaching the proposed $ 30m trade between two countries,' vice chairman of İzmir chamber of commerce said.

He went on to say that 160 Iranian firms are active in İzmir.

Iranian consular general Hamid Zadbum urged İzmir merchants to be active in introducing trade opportunities.

He also invited Turkish businessmen and investors to participate in Iranian ports, free zones and energy fields.

The volume of Iran-Turkey trade was $ 10.7b last year.
