Thai media: Sanctioned aviation firm 'small player'

On Friday night, the US has put two aviation companies in Malaysia and Thailand working with Iranian airliner Mahan Air in sanction list.

In continuation of the United States bullying policies against Iran, the spokesperson for the United States Department of State, repeating anti-Iranian remarks, has said the US Treasury Department's move to blacklist the Iranian airliner Mahan Air is a warning.

'My Aviation Co. Ltd. appears to be one of many small players in Thai aviation, operating as an airline sales agent. Lacking even a company website, its name might have remained off the radar if not for serious accusations from the US Treasury,' Khao Sod reported.

According to Thai media 'calls to the office Saturday afternoon went unanswered. Kosol Surinandha, who is identified on LinkedIn as managing director of the company, did not reply to emailed inquiries as of publication time. The Thai government has yet to issue any statement regarding the sanctions.'

'Business databases online list the company as being founded in 2008 with an office in the Silom area, a major business hub in Bangkok,' Khao Sod added.

Mahan Airlines, operating under the name Mahan Air is a privately-owned Iranian airline based in Tehran, Iran. It operates scheduled domestic services and international flights to the Far East, Middle East, Central Asia, and Europe.

Following Washington's May 8 pulling out of the Iran nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the US established a 90-day and a 180-day wind-down period for other countries before it starts reimposing sanctions on Tehran on November 4.

It is noteworthy that upon the United States' withdrawal, dozens of licenses to sell Boeing and Airbus passenger jets to Iran have been revoked.
