Tehran Municipality ready for cooperation with Switzerland

Speaking on the sidelines of a tour of Tehran Crisis Management Center, Lightner said Swiss cooperation with Tehran municipality dates back as long as establishment of the volunteer groups of district emergency reaction in early 2000s.

Swiss is again prepared to launch new round of cooperation with Tehran municipality, including holding special courses, with regards to the expertise of the scientific and executive organs in management of incidents, rescue and relief, he added.

While welcoming expansion of mutual cooperation, the Swiss diplomat said Switzerland is ready for cooperation in urban resilience and security, management of incidents and disasters both hardware and software.

He voiced pleasure with cooperation in the past which resulted in formation of volunteer groups of emergency reaction, and said Tehran Municipality is active in building structures of crisis management and checking and scientifically monitoring incidents.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is a powerful country, but considering natural risks it should expand its activities in the domain as well, he added.

Head of Tehran Crisis Management and Prevention Organization Ahmad Sadeghi, for his part, provided an account on the implemented projects, and said Tehran Municipality is well-prepared in urban resilience and upgrading preparedness and urban potential to confront disasters, while welcoming international cooperation to address its goals.
