Sergei Ivanov said, 'This flight line has been established between Tatarstan and Iran's ATA Airlines.'
Referring to the importance of the flights between Kazan and Tehran for the Republic of Tatarstan, he stated, 'This is a historic event and a major accomplishment for us, which will create the prospect of attracting tourists to Tatarstan.'
Ivanov went on saying, 'We hope to see Russian and Iranian tourists travel through this flight line.'
He noted the Islamic Republic of Iran has recently established close ties with Tatarstan, and many delegations travel to this area of Russia.
The head of the State Committee on Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan added that last May several plans were implemented to introduce Tatarstan in Tehran, Isfahan, Shiraz, Tabriz and Mashhad.
RIA Novosti news agency referred to the statements of Mohammad Shayan, ATA airlines representative and added, 'The flight between Tehran and Kazan takes 3 hours and 20 minutes, which is far less than the transit flights through Istanbul or Moscow to Tehran.'
The price for Tehran-Kazan flight ticket is $ 150- 350, and the flights are on Thursdays and Sundays.
With an area of 68,000 square kilometers and a population of three million and 876,000 people, Tatarstan is located in the Volga region of Russia. The capital is Kazan and it is considered one of the developed republics in Russia.
