Tehran, Ashkhabat trade exceeds $1b in 2017: Turkmen official

Addressing Iran-Turkmenistan Trade Conference held concurrent with the 14th Iran Exclusive Exhibition in Ashgabat on Friday, Roshan Nouria Ghadyev added that official statistics indicate that the volume of trade exchanges between Iran and Turkmenistan exceeded one billion dollars in 2017.

This is while Turkmenistan's exports to Iran were doubled compared to its imports from the the Islamic Republic, he said.

The Turkmen official also said that Iran is among the top ten target countries for Turkmenistan's exports.

Turkmenistan imports from Iran mainly metals, plastic goods, potato and fruits and exports electricity, sulfur, cotton, textiles and natural gas to Iran, he said.

Noting that partnership between Iran and Turkmenistan was mutually beneficial, he said that Iran was among the first states which recognized Turkmenistan's independence.

A one-day trade conference was held on the sidelines of Iran's 14th Exclusive Exhibition in Ashkhabat which is to end on Saturday.
