Daily Mail reported delivering a speech at a business conference in the Qatari capital Doha, Akbar al-Baker said, 'Services to Iran would continue despite a tightening economic and political squeeze on Iran by Washington.'
'Aviation is not a sanctioned industry, Qatar Airways will continue to operate into the cities we are currently operating in Iran,' the ECO of Qatar Airways further said.
Qatar Airways operates flights from Qatar to Mashhad, Shiraz and daily flights to Tehran.
Following withdrawal from the landmark Iran nuclear deal known commonly as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in May, the United States reinstated the first set of sanctions against Iran which had been eased under the agreement and warned foreign companies against doing business with Iran.
Other signatories of the deal and European countries chose not to heed the warning. They announced they will continue to abide by the agreement and will put forward packages to ensure the continuation of business transactions with Iran.
