Lack of banking channel termed main hurdle in Iran-Pakistan trade ties

During the meeting, Iran's Commercial attaché in Pakistan Morad Ne'mati Zargaran, Consul General of Pakistan in Zahedan Muhammad Rafie and Pakistan’s Commercial attaché in Iran Nazar Muhammad Ranjha were also present during the meeting.

The Iranian traders said that Iran and Pakistan have set a target of $ 5 billion bilateral trade by 2021, but achieving this goal faces some hurdles especially when it comes to trade between the businessmen.

They noted that lack of banking channel is the major hurdle in trade between Iran and Pakistan while issue of visa to businessmen of the two countries is another major impediment.

The delegation of Iranian businessmen from different sectors is in Pakistan to participate in Expo Pakistan 2017 which was held from November 9 to 12 at Karachi Expo Center, in a bid to find Pakistani partners and also explain their problems in the way of business with Pakistan.

The Iranian delegation also met with Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI), and Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) on the sidelines of the Expo and explored the ways to promote bilateral trade and remove existing barriers in the way of their business ties with the neighboring country meetings.

Expo Pakistan is the biggest trade fair in Pakistan, showcasing the largest collection of export merchandise and services. Foreign exhibitors from neighboring countries also use this platform to display their products.
