Atosushi Hisamichi said on Wednesday in Shahr-e-Kord, “The implementation of the integrated management plan of the Great Karoun basin in 6 provinces of Lorestan, Isfahan, Fars, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad, Khouzestan, has been launched since mid-summer this year, with Chahar Mahal and Bakhtiari as the base.'
Prior to this, JICA's comprehensive management plan was successfully implemented in five villages in Koohrang city, in cooperation with the Japanese team and people's participation, with the aim of increasing the participation of local communities in the conservation of national resources, which, with the agreement of the organization of forests and pastures of Iran, this plan has been generalized within the framework of a comprehensive management plan of Karoun watershed in 5 other provinces with a focus on Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari for 5 years.
Hisamichi added that in the comprehensive management plan of Karoun big basin, about 9 Japanese experts are cooperating with experts in natural resources in the provinces of Karoon basin for 5 years.
He said that in the existing plan, JICA will rehabilitate vegetation with the support of local communities in areas in the basin where soil erosion or vegetation is gone.
Senior consultant at JICA, said the project is being implemented with partners from local communities, organizations in the form of a corporate solidarity and popular participation.
