Iran's health minister: US scaring pharmaceutical companies to deal with Iran

Referring to the US sanctions against Iran, Hashemi said Monday in a meeting with Ahmed al-Manzari, director of the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Directorate for World Health Organization (WHO), adding that since the US government has withdrawn from an 2015 international agreement and imposed secondary sanctions in addition to sanctions for the country and our people, there will definitely be problems.

He said the expectation from the United Nations, and in particular the World Health Organization, is not to allow the Iranian people and the system, who spend so much for the humanity, being bothered in terms of health. The sanctions target only the people, and it is based on increasing public discontent and harming women, children and the elderly. It is regrettable for such behaviors in the 21st century.

The Americans, with secondary sanctions, are frightening all companies and banks to deal with Iranian companies, and there is no exception for medical supplies and medical equipment, the minister said. 'I have no doubt that Iran's friends in the region and in the world believe that we can successfully pass this era'.

He stressed, 'In the 21st century, with the help of neighboring countries, sanctions will not be meaningful, but what is persistent in the minds of the people is the behavior of international organizations, especially the United Nations and the World Health Organization. We hope that the behavior of these two organizations is completely humanitarian and in line with human rights.'
