Iran's gas exports to Basra rest upon solving financial issues

'Basra has signaled readiness to receive the Iranian gas, but no gas has been exported yet,' Araqi said.

All the conditions are prepared for Iran's gas exports to Iraq, the official added.

One reason for the delay of the project was that the pipelines were not prepared, the deputy minister said, adding that the pipelines are fully prepared now.

He said that the first phase of Iran's gas exports to Iraq started last year when Tehran began pumping gas to Baghdad.

Iran exports between 10 and 12 million cubic meters of gas to Bagdad per day and the country's gas exports to Basra will be as much as 7 mcm/d, according to the official.
