Iran's ecolex agreements with 11 states not executed yet: Deputy FM

'… we should be after [efficient] management of water,' Araqchi said in a speech addressed to a national conference on water diplomacy held in the Iranian capital this morning.

To achieve the end, Tehran should make use of the international experiences in this area and promote the related international cooperation, Araqchi said.

During his speech, Araqchi also talked of the 1973 Hirmand (Helmand) River Treaty between Iran and Afghanistan, adding that the Iranian Foreign Ministry is following up the correct implementation of the treaty.

The Foreign Ministry has been holding talks with the Iranian neighbors on efficiently managing the important issue of water.

Also in April, 2017, Tehran hosted the first Virtual Water International Conference (VWIC) to find the practical ways within the framework of the sustainable development to solve the problems related to water.
