'The dates were mostly exported to Russia, Ukraine and India,' said Qassem Mohammadzadeh.
'The province produces 150 tons of dates annually andabout 30,000 tons are expected to be exported until the end of this Iranian year (to end on March 20, 2019),' Mohammadzadeh said.
He also said the exporters are trying to focus on East Asian countries, namely India, Vietnam, and Malaysia, where a large number of Muslims live.
About 7.5 million tons of dates are produced in the world every year, but because the fruit should be consumed fresh, only 1.3 tons are traded by countries, Mohammadzadeh said.
He added that there will be an international date exhibit from November 13-15.
