Shemrooz Masjedi said on Monday that the opening of the Farah border to Iranian goods, that had previously been banned only on this border, is a media mistake and only the permission has been issued after a complete legal act for entrance of the goods, registered prior to the ban.
He considered the decision as an attempt to prevent the loss of businessmen who had gone to Afghanistan for their goods from Iran before closing the border, saying that the license had been suspended for property and did not include the import of new items.
Masjedi reminded that the letter of permission has not however been brought to the information of Farah border custom.
The Afghan government issued a decree on September 16, 2011, ordering the closure of the Abu Nasr Farahi border in Farah Province to four items, imported from Iran, so as to clear the customs infrastructure to ensure national interests and prevent income loss in the Customs and ensure the transfer of revenues to the state treasury.
A letter was issued today in the Afghan media that it has been law-abiding in order to prevent the loss of businessmen whose dozens of property trucks have been stopped on the other side of the border.
The letter stated that on September 16, the Ministry of Finance of Afghanistan stopped importing four Iranian product items, including mills, cement, oil, tiles and ceramics, due to the incorrect collection of their customs revenue, so that the property, hence left behind to avoid loss of businessmen's revenues, will be transported to the country through legal procedures.
Some Afghan media have cited Shoayb Sabet as the new governor of Farah, who is trying to re-open the border as soon as possible.
