In the meeting, the ambassador pointed to recent meeting of Iranian and Cuban presidents on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly and their emphasis on expansion of economic cooperation between Tehran and Havana.

He pointed to common challenges, faced by the two states, to confront the US' imposed sanctions and said the threats could serve as an opportunity for independent states to deepen ties.

The ambassador also outlined Iran's capabilities in generation and transfer of electricity and expressed readiness for cooperation with Cuba in that concern.

Raul Garcia Barreiro confirmed remarks of the ambassador concerning common challenges and the need for mutual cooperation and expressed Cuba's interest in expansion of cooperation with Iran in the field.
