Iran, Russia provincial cooperation will improve

He made the remarks during his visit to the two Russian provinces of Tomsk and Krasnoyarsk on Friday.

When in Krasnoyarsk, Sanaei met with the governor general and other political and economic officials of the Russian province, calling for boosting of bilateral ties.

During the meeting with Krasnoyarsk Governor General Alexander Uss, he discussed a range of issues including economic relations, planning for establishing Iran trade house in Krasnoyarsk and cooperation between the Russian province and a special Iranian province.

Sanaei also held talks with Krasnoyarsk mayor, expressing readiness for cooperation in the fields of culture, economy and urban management.

Meanwhile, Sanaei during his visit to Tomsk said that provincial ties between the two countries must improve.

Sanaei told Interfax that forging cooperation between the provinces is Iran’s priority, as it will help enhance relations between the two nations.

Noting that academic cooperation between Iran and Russia is increasing day in day out, Sanaei said that Association of Iran and Russia Universities was set up three years ago in a bid to broaden collaboration among universities.

During his stay in Tomsk, Sanaei met with Tomsk Governor General Sergei Zhvachkin.

Sanaei stressed the need for forging collaboration between the Iranian and Russian provinces.

Iran-Russia cooperation will improve as they have common stances regarding international developments, he said.

Zhvachkin, for his part, said that although Tomsk is far away from Iranian provinces, it cannot prevent development of mutual cooperation.

He also said that trade exchanges between Iran and Tomsk is not remarkable as it stood at 315,000 dollars in 2017.
