Iran, Iraq underline promotion of trade ties

During the meeting, Iran's Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Shariatmadari declared Iran's both governmental and private sectors' preparedness for investment in Iraq.

He pointed to obstacles on the way of improvement of banking relations between Tehran and Baghdad hoping that the problems will be resolved in his meeting with Iraq’s central bank officials.
Shariatmadari arrived in Baghdad on Wednesday evening at the head of a delegation to explore ways of further expanding bilateral economic ties between Iran and Iraq.

Meanwhile, the Iraqi foreign minister for his part thanked Iran's support for Iraq and highlighted the importance of elevation of trade ties between the two capitals.

Ibrahim al-Jaafari expressed satisfaction for promotion of Tehran and Baghdad relations in all fields and said that “Baghdad is honored” for enjoying such relations with Tehran.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he referred to recent developments in Iraqi Kurdistan region and hoped for normalization of the situation in that region.
