Iran customs mobilized to ease exports: Official

“IRICA has recently set new regulations on customs drawback procedure to strengthen the legal support of domestic production and exports,” said Foroud Asgari.

Drawback is a custom procedure under which the customs refunds the duty and tolls paid upon temporary imports of raw material.

“The exported goods that are produced from temporarily imported material are not subject to any exports limitations anymore,” he added.

He stressed that in former regulations, only a few number of executive customs were authorized to implement the drawback procedure, but the new laws let all the customs heads and supervisors to do so.

Asgari also referred to the deployment of the electronic systems in IRICA, adding, “From now on, exporters can declare their goods remotely, and the customs will automatically process the requests.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, Asgari added that a normal exports procedure took seven days on average, but new electronic systems have reduced it to less than one day.

According to the statistics published by IRICA, Iran exported some $ 12.9b worth goods to the neighbors in the first half of current Iranian year (beginning on March 21), which shows an average 27.96% increase in value compared to the figure in the same period last year.
