Iran condemns US sanction move on CBI Chief

The US Treasury had on May 15 unilaterally sanctioned Seif after the May 8 decision of the US President Donald Trump to leave the JCPOA and re-issue sanctions against Iran for 90 and 180 days.

After sanctions of the CBI Chief and one of the directors of the bank by the US Treasury, the Ministry of Economy and Finance issued a statement to emphasize that the act was illegal and contrary to the international rules and regulations, aiming to fan negative psychological war against Iranian banking system.

The statement said Iranian financial and banking system will continue vigorously with international financial and international structures without causing any damage.

It said the goal behind the fresh move of the US Treasury is harming interests of Iranian citizens, foreign investment and international beneficiaries, though the US was expected to do that with regards to the record of the US which is not ready to accept any norms, treaties and international norms.

'However, Iranian financial system has changed its structures in such a way that such measures will not harm it.'
