Iran, Azerbaijan underline boosting transit cooperation

Iran has talked with India and Russia on activating the International North–South Transport Corridor and is interested in cooperating with Azerbaijan Republic to develop this transit route, Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Abbas Akhoundi said.

He made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Azerbaijani Minister of Transport, Communication and High Technologies Ramin Guluzade.

Iran is ready to facilitate transit between the two countries and decrease transit tariffs, the minister added.

During the meeting, the Azeri minister called for activating the International North–South Transport Corridor and improvement of banking cooperation between Tehran and Baku.

He stressed removal of obstacles to elevation of relations between the two countries.
