INSTEX least expectation from EU: VP

The radio asked Masoumeh Ebtekar, “Iran celebrates the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Iranian Revolution while US sanctions have raised inflation, do you think that you can cope with America's pressure?

The high-ranking official replied, 'Over the past decades, we have faced unfair sanctions, and over the years we have been fighting these sanctions. It is true that Iran's economic situation has faced difficulties with the resumption of sanctions, but it will undoubtedly be overcome in the long run.”

'We have had very good progress in various areas over the past few years, and one of the reasons for these sanctions has been this progress,' she added. The past sanctions have made rapid progress in many areas of science and research, and it seems that this is not a pleasant matter for the government under the leadership of Donald Trump.”

Ebtekar said, 'I believe that the Iranian people, like the previous years, resist the American pressure and sanctions, and the government is trying to eliminate the problems one after another, as the typical example is the rise in the price of the currency that the government has acted and controlled and I hope that inflation will be controlled in the coming months.”

The Vice President on the Instrument for Supporting Trade Exchanges (INSTEX), and the American reaction to this, also said, 'It's time-consuming. More than anything else we have to wait and see where this mechanism leads to. I have to say that INSTEX is an improvement in itself. This is at least something we expect from the European Union to act in such a way as to make nuclear accord a sustainable economic mechanism for Iran.”

The Iranian official highlighted, “European companies know very well that they will benefit from investment in Iran, and this European action has given them hope. There are many sectors in Iran that European companies can invest in, such as the tourism sector. I hope that the tourism industry will expand in Iran and that many Europeans will come to Iran to spend their holidays.”

Ebtekar on Iran's missile power and the French position also said that “that we can defend ourselves is a natural thing and, in this regard, we must strengthen our defense capability, because we live in a very shaky area. As we know, Saddam's regime attacked us in the past. When this war imposed on us, who helped us? Everyone was against us. All the world was on Saddam's side. The Islamic Republic does not retreat from its positions in terms of its defense capability. The defensive capacities of the Islamic Republic are not a threat to any country at all. Just look at the area and see dozens of US military bases. These bases are a threat to us and the region. What are Americans doing in our area? I believe that defending ourselves is our natural right.
