'During the first quarter of this (Persian) year (March 21-June 21), over 400,000 tons of Iranian products including cement, citrus, fruits, gas, construction material, tomato paste and cement clinker have been exported from the Amirabad Port,' the director of Amirabad Special Economic Zone Siavash Rezvani told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
Amirabad Port is in the Iranian northern Province Mazandaran.
The official noted that the export diversification program is pursued through giving discounts on port tariffs.
He noted that a 25 percent discount is applicable to Iranian products being exported from the port.
An international conference on export promotion from the Caspian Sea route will be held on July 11-12 in Amirabad Port, Rezvani said.
The main goals of the conference that is expected to be attended by representatives from the Caspian Sea littoral states will be giving information on export capacities and investment incentives, the official said.
The annual capacity of the Iranian port on the Caspian Sea is 7.5 million tons, but currently an average of 4.5 million tons of goods are annually being handled through the port.
