In an exclusive interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Sunday, Derya Ors highlighted, 'Over last eight years, the presidents of the two countries have focused on large investment capacities and a $ 30 billion business deal aimed at widening trade relatons between the two countries.'
The high-ranking official said that the volume of trade exchanges between the two countries had risen to $ 22 billion a few years ago, saying that after the United States imposed sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran and caused some global economic problems, the volume of transactions fell.
Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Tehran emphasized the re-establishment of economic relations and trade relations between the two countries, and said, 'In the new year we are trying to achieve the volume of cross-border economic exchanges to a very high rate, and there is a very high will between President Hassan Rouhani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in this regard as both of them are willing to achieve these goals.
Referring to some threats and obstacles in restoring such ties, he said, 'If these threats could be turned into opportunities and managed to deal with the crisis well, they would benefit the two countries and develop economic, political and business relations.'
Ors went on to say that in Iran and Turkey, related individuals work on various issues such as customs, inflation, currency fluctuations and the devaluation of the national currency, and try to curb inflation and bring the exchange rate to its true rate.
Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Tehran said that bilateral measures will be taken by joint technical delegations and committees to solve the problems of Iranian and Turkish businessmen, and as soon as possible, the problems of merchants will be raised in the joint economic commission of the two countries and the necessary solutions will be adopted.
Referring to sanctions imposed by the United States against the Islamic Republic, the Turkish official added, 'American action to impose sanctions on different countries will have a negative impact on all neighboring countries, whether directly or indirectly.'
He said that the Turkish President, in all the international circles, explicitly stated, 'We would not succumb to sanctions and follow our own independent policies because our country is independent.'
