Hojjati told IRNA that the 1.6 million Chinese Yuan contract had been approved by the Economy Council in 2013, but it has not yet been enforced.

Under the project, 105,000 hectares of paddy lands in Iranian northern provinces will be consolidated and undergo on-farm improvement.

Hojjati said among advantages of the project is cutting expenditures and water consumption, while increasing farmer income.
