Capacity of Iran's power plants up by 11.5 times

According to IRNA, performance indicators of the power industry sectors over the past four decades indicate that, despite a 2-fold increase in population, many indicators of the industry have increased by 11 to 27 times.

The length of electricity networks (transmission, over-distribution and distribution) grew from 81,775 km in 1978 with 11.3 times grow reached to 923, 452 km, and the capacity of electricity substations (transmission, over- distribution and distribution) from 26, 807 megawatt amps with a growth of 14 times to 378,738 megawatts amps.

At least 65% of the equipment used in power plants and 100% of the networks and power stations are built inside the country.

Though the country's population has doubled in the past four decades, the number of electricity subscribers has grown from 3.4 to 35.7 million during the period which shows an increase of 10.5 times.

The huge figure also shows the remarkable growth in electricity coverage across the country as well.
