Beijing eager to enhance cultural ties with Tehran in new era: Chinese official

China's market is eager to welcome Iran's cultural works, Wu di, President of China Arts and Trading Exchange Center, told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

Referring to the role of the Silk Road in fostering Iran-China relations in the past, Wu said Iranian culture entered China through this Road.

And now, the 'One Belt, One Road' project can be called as a symbol of cultural ties between the two Eastern countries, Wu said.

It was in 2013 that the Chinese President Xi Jinping introduced the 'One Belt, One Road' initiative, a plan to link China with Asia, Africa and Europe via a network of ports, railways and roads.

As Wu said, the 'One Belt, One Road' project is an ample opportunity to introduce Iranian art and culture to the Chinese people.

The official further said that the Iranian handicrafts have received enthusiastic welcome from China.

Annually, several cultural festival displaying Iranian arts are held in China, Wu added.

He went on to say that such cultural works will not only introduce the Iranian culture but also prepare the ground for trade exchange.

China's policy is to develop ties with Iran in all areas, particularly in the field of culture, the Chinese official concluded.
