Afghanistan after establishing new connecting routes with Iran

Asif Rahimi made the remarks in a recent meeting with members of Razavi Khorasan Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mine and Agriculture.

Afghanistan is attempting to be connected to Europe, China and the Persian Gulf, he said, adding that this will only be possible through Iran, he said.

Afghanistan also needs to have access to the Iranian ports, he added.

Afghanistan and Uzbekistan have recently signed a contract for construct a railways connecting Herat and to Mazar-i-Sharif, he said.

Afghanistan is determined to complete its connecting routes, he said, expressing hope for transporting goods from Chabahar Port in southern Iran to Central Asia via Heart.

Opening new connecting routes requires precise economic and security analysis, Asif Rahimi said.

The Afghan official commenting on the volume of trade exchanges between the two countries, said that due to unilateral trade between Iran and Afghanistan, the trade volume is not suitable.

Head of Iran chamber of commerce, Mine and Industry Gholamhossein Shafei, for his part, said that the Iranian private sector has studied Afghanistan potentials meaning that the country is willing to invest in Afghanistan.
