$200m of goods exported from Iran's Arvand Free Zone

180 million worth of exported goods were produced in the Arvand Free Zone, Deputy Head of Arvand Free Zone for economic and investment affairs Ali Mousavi told an economic conference on Sunday.

Mousavi said the exported products were comprised of fruits, construction materials, technical engineering services, apparels, car parts, steel and rebar.

The goods were exported to Iraq, Kuwait, Russia, Oman, the UAE, Germany and Italy, he added.

He also said that a memorandum of understanding was signed between officials in the Arvand Free Zone and Iraq in order to address export problems.

The volume of goods exported from the free economic zone in southern Iran stood at 120 million dollars last year, Mousavi said.

The Arvand Free Zone with an area of 37,400 hectares is at the confluence of the Karun and Shatt al-Arab Rivers and in proximity to Iraq and in the north west of Persian Gulf.

This Zone has long been one of the border and oil rich zones of the country due to the existence of freshwater Rivers of Karun and Arvand and also transportation facilities including road, rail, sea and air.
