Managing Director of South Pars Gas Company Hadi Hashemzadeh-Farhang told IRNA on Wednesday that once phase 13 of South Pars gas field is launched, some 56.6 million cubic meters of rich gas, 75,000 barrels of gas condensates and 400 tons of sulfur will be produced daily. Moreover 1.05 million tons of LPG and one million ton of ethan will be produced annually.
The official further noted that operations to build phases 13, 23 and 24 have started since 2010.
Noting that production capacity of phases 23 and 24 is similar to that of phase 13, he said that South Pars accounts for supplying 70 percent of the gas consumed inside the country.
Currently, the complex produces 650,000 barrels of gas condensates, 10,000 tons of ethane, 10,000 tons of LPG and 1,800 tons of sulfur a day, Hashemzadeh-Farhang said.
The giant gas field, which Iran shares with Qatar in the Persian Gulf, is estimated to contain a significant amount of natural gas, accounting for about eight percent of the world’s reserves, and approximately 18 billion barrels of condensate.
The field is divided into 24 standard phases of development in the first stage. Most of the phases are fully operational at the moment.
