In his message to Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif which was released on Wednesday, Hisham Sharaf Abdullah sympathized with the bereaved families of the victims of the sad occasion.
Earlier, Ambassadors of Austria, Switzerland and Norway and UK in separate messages expressed sympathy with victims of the deadly floods in different Iranian provinces.
'Terrible images of the death and destruction caused by #flooding several places in #Iran. My thoughts are with the victims, the bereaved families and the entire Iranian people. Will raise this disaster with top officials in #Tehran tomorrow,' Norwegian envoy to Tehran Lars Nordrum tweeted on Monday.
Meanwhile, Austrian ambassador to Iran Stefan Scholz in a message said 'arduous clean-up after flooding in #Golestan and #Mazandaran with uplifting community spirit & rescues by joint civil/military response; distraught by devastation in #Shiraz, #Austria expresses heartfelt sympathy with people of disaster zones & ready to help ease suffering.'
In the meantime, Swiss embassy in Tehran in a Twitter message said 'we are deeply saddened by the recent and continuing flooding in Iran, particularly in the 21 most affected provinces. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with those affected by this disaster.'
“I’m shocked by these pictures, and what I am hearing from Iranian friends about the #flood [#seil] in #Iran. My sympathies and thoughts are with those who have been affected, losing loved ones and homes in this ongoing disaster,” UK Envoy to Tehran Rob Macaire said.
Eearlier, the UN Information Center (UNIC) in Tehran said 'we are deeply saddened by the loss of life, injuries and damages caused by #floods in #Iran. We extend condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government and people of Iran. The @UN_Iran stands ready to support the ongoing Government-led rescue and relief efforts.'
The head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of the Vatican City State Pope Francis in a message cabled on Wednesday expressed condolences over deadly floods.
Iran was hit by huge waves of floods nationwide resulting to huge calamities in recent days.
Based on the latest reports some 19 people have been killed and some 105 others have been injured.
Some 17 cities and over 600 villages have been affected by the devastating flood.
