World Heritage Day, valuable opportunity to exchange ideas about preservation

International Day for Monuments and Sites can also be a good opportunity to exchange ideas, resolve conflicts and reach a consensus on strategies and methods of preserving historical monuments and sites.

This exchanges and conflicts of ideas will be evaluated by a scientific benchmark, combined by a taste of experiment and experience.

However, reaching a high scientific level and relying upon the experiences of previous generations is only possible when it thoroughly researched by the custodians and decision-makers of the field. Any scientific research on these topics can shed a bit of light on the dark sides of historical monuments and sites and help preserve them in a more efficient way.

The Revival Fund for Cultural and Historic Sites, as a proctor institution in this area, has adopted a serious approach toward establishing a scientific look on reviving the mentioned monuments. The publication of the first edition of the ‘Reviving Cultural and Historic Buildings and Districts’, has provided an arena for scientists and researchers of this area to present and exchange their ideas.

In this regard, since recognizing, organizing and managing the market for activities, services and products related to the revival and utilization of historical monuments are among the main objectives of the Revival Fund, this fund can play a reliable role in aggregating contingent strategies for preservation and appreciation of historic monuments in the form of appropriate functions.

To this end, the technical body of this fund has published several recalls to identify and complete the list of qualified people who can be considered as skillful masters, executive managers and experienced and expert advisors to work with the private sector in this area.

The decision-makers in the Revival Fund argue that by relying on potential and technical knowledge, and by observing necessary restrictions, one can connect utilization with preservation of the historical buildings and monuments.

This can be accelerated by relying on investigations from the private sector and the supervision of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO). It should also be noted that, having experimented and criticized, the presented novel strategies in this area can prepare the background for a serious revolution in reviving historic buildings and monuments.

This revolution would aim many historic buildings throughout Iran, and can become an important factor in producing wealth and establishing the national identity in line with the Resilient Economy. In addition, it can present a better image of Iran and Iranian people, and their cultural component to the world.
