With prayers Pakistani Muslims celebrate Eid al-Fitr

Muslims in Pakistan crowded mosques and prayer grounds across the country to offer prayers. The biggest Eid congregation was held at Faisal Mosque at Islamabad where government officials and envoys of Islamic countries offered Eid prayers.

Eid al-Fitr is the Islamic festival that marks the end of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar during which Muslims all over the world fast during the days and make special prayers at night.

Pakistan has an estimated population of 200 million and about 95-98% of Pakistanis are Muslims, thus Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr are very special occasions for them.

The Ulema in their sermons highlighted the significance and philosophy of Eid al-Fitr.

Special prayers were offered for the progress and prosperity of the country and welfare of the Muslim Ummah.

Strict security measures are in place across the country to avoid any untoward incident.

Prime Minister Justice (Retired) Nasirul Mulk offered his Eid prayer at the mosque in prime minister house in Islamabad.

In Lahore, the biggest Eid congregation was held at Badshahi Mosque, where Punjab Governor Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana offered Eid prayer.

In Karachi, the main Eid congregation was held at Gulshan-e-Jinnah (Old Polo Ground), where Governor of Sindh Muhammad Zubair, high ranking officials and diplomats of Islamic countries offered Eid prayer.

In Peshawar, the main congregation of Eid al-Fitr was held at Sonehri Masjid Peshawar Saddar.

Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra and Caretaker Chief Minister Dost Muhammad Khan offered Eid prayer at Governor House Peshawar.

In Quetta, more than 180 Eid prayer congregations were held at open places, parks, mosques, Imambargahs, and Eidgahs, while the main congregation was held at Eidgah Toghi road, Quetta.

Governor of Balochistan Muhammad Khan Achakzai offered Eid prayer in his native town Killah Abdullah while the caretaker Chief Minister Balochistan Alauddin Marri in Quetta.
