UN to hold workshop on assessment of disasters in Iran

The United Nations Information Center in Iran said on Saturday that the Workshop will be held on disaster reduction and within the framework of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Tehran from April 22 to May 24.

The Sendai Framework (2015-2030) is the most important UN risk reduction strategy for next 15 years.

The United Nations has sponsored Sendai Framework which its initial and expert reviews have been carried out by various countries between 2012 and 2015.

According to the report, experts from the Planning and Budget Organization, the National Crisis Management Organization, ministries and government organizations, as well as staff from the UN offices in Iran, will attend the three-day workshop.

The workshop is concurrent with national efforts to counter the effects of recent floods in the country, and its outputs are developing capacities and tools for assessing disaster and damage losses, as well as monitoring the implementation of the Sendai Framework for disaster reduction.
