According to the Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred at 5:33 hours local time (1:03 GMT) in an area located at 56.31 degrees latitude and 86.31 degrees longitude and in the depth of 8 km underground.
The epicenter of the quake was registered at 28 km of Bahabad, 50 km of Kuhbanan and 79 km of Kianshahr.
No report on possible damage to life or properties has been released yet.
