Ahmad Shojaei divided the rainfalls triggering deadly floods into two parts: the first were those which occurred over the last days of the past Iranian calendar year and the second were those which affected the country over the first days of the New Year in Iran.
He said that 9 people were killed in the first part of rainfalls, five of whom were from northern Mazandaran Province, two ones were from northern Golestan Province and the rest two others were from northeastern province of North Korasan.
The second part of rainfalls was even heavier in which 33 people were killed, the official said, adding that with 19 fatalities, the southern province of Fars had the biggest death toll.
Shojaei said that the statistics is based on the dead bodies reported to the Coroner’s Office so far.
