The 10th Int’l Day of Rare Diseases Conference today

February 28th is the Global Rare Diseases day. Out of a total of 8,000 rare diseases known in the world, 280 of them are more common in Iran. About 8,000 rare diseases are known, with 80 percent of them have genetic roots, and 65 percent of these diseases are acute and create problems for the patients.

According to global definitions, a rare disease is a disease with fewer than 5 out of 10,000 people, and this low outbreak has made it hard to diagnose these diseases.

Shakiba Pardel, Executive Secretary of the 10th International Day World Rare Disease Conference about this conference said, “The motto of this year's conference is 'The rare patient is not alone' and is selected in Iran every year, according to the World Disease Day, along with 94 countries is held in Iran. The purpose of the conference is to prevent the emergence of rare diseases.”

He added that on the sidelines of the conference, 45 booths have been granted to health organizations to present their achievements.
