Tehran University signs over 400 int’l contracts in 2018

Abdul Majid Eskandari said in an interview with the Islamic Republic of Iran News Agency (IRNA) on Friday that the university was the best performing body in this regard in the country.

After exchanges of visits by academic staff and conducting bilateral or multilateral negotiations or correspondence, universities as a general rule, sign a memorandum of understanding that serves as an initial platform at the beginning of the cooperation, he noted.

According to the official, last year, the University of Tehran signed over 30 memoranda of understanding with the European Union on professor and student exchange and capacity building in the form of various projects, including Erasmus +( European Union student exchange program established in 1987), according to which faculty members, students and experts can be exchanged and sponsored by the European Union’s financial support.

He explained that this exchange helps to increase the participants' academic and work experience and identify the capacities, as well as promote the scientific biographies for employment at the national and international levels.

Iran's partner universities are from different European countries such as Bulgaria, Turkey, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Poland, France and Lithuania, he added.

At the same time, Eskandari emphasized that there are a variety of memoranda depending on the type of cooperation. 'Last year, we also witnessed an increase in the Memorandum of Understanding between Tehran University and many other universities in Turkey, while at the same time Erasmus's plans are being carried out in the framework of the so-called Molana Plan.”

Based on this plan, the exchange of professors and students between Iran and Turkey will be implemented with the financial support of the Ankara government. Among the college universities in this project are Yaldiz University, Endo Kozmice and the like. For example, students from the Faculty of Entrepreneurship have been deployed to Turkey, and students and professors from the Turkish University of Kirikkale have been present at the University of Tehran to learn Persian language and language.
