“Taken 3” director: Iranian, French cultures have many similarities

Director of Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014), made the remarks on the sidelines of the 36th edition of Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) currently underway in Tehran.

He termed the Iranian cinema as creative, adding that more than fifty percent of French people are familiar with Iran's rich history.

He also described the FIFF as the proper venue to be in contact with different people, directors, writers, actors and actresses and watch different films.

The director of Colombiana said he didn’t have any interest in action films, but little by little became more and more interested.

Born on August 6, 1965 in Versailles, France, Megaton has also directed the Exit (2000).

Megaton was born 20 years to the day after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, and his choice of the artistic name, Megaton, was influenced by this.

He grew up in a Paris banlieue, and after qualifying for a diploma in psychology, he became active as an artist, including graffiti. After meeting music video director Jean-Baptiste Mondino, he started working in film industry.

Presided over by writer-director Reza Mirkarimi, the 36th edition of Fajr International Film Festival will continue until April 27.

The event organizers expect to receive over 300 special guests from around the world, ranging from filmmakers to screenwriters, actors to activists.

A host of A-listers is legendary Italian actor Franco Nero and influential American film director Oliver Stone.
