
According to Iran embassy in Bucharest, the event was held on the occasion of Nowruz with the aim of making Romanians get familiar with Iranian traditional music.
Nowruz (meaning new day in Persian) marks the first day of spring.
The Persian New Year is celebrated across the world by various countries, particularly Afghanistan, Albania, Azerbaijan, the Former Yugoslav, Republic of Macedonia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey and Turkmenistan.
It was registered as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2009 by the UN.
Iran Ambassador to Romania Morteza Aboutalebi, deputy governor of Pitești together with some other officials attended the concert.
Addressing the meeting, Aboutalebi expressed happiness over Pitești people’s hosting Iranian music.
He also underlined continuation of cultural ties between two countries.
Iranian envoy described as effective holding such events in maintaining mutual understanding between Iran and Romania.
